about

:: 5 YEARS OF POP & NOISE FROM ATHENS, GA ::

Five years ago, on January 29th, 2011 we had our first official release under Marching Banana: a 2-song "single" on CD for the fledgling bedroom pop act Kirby & The Mablets. That summer, we relocated to Athens, Georgia and began slowly but surely accumulating a closeknit group of likeminded young musicians and artists. Somehow, while our personal lives seem to remain in flux our teenage pet project label has managed to remain stable & growing for, at this point, about a quarter of our lives.

After three "Best of Banana" samplers, it felt right to lay that series to rest (RIP) and to focus instead on putting forth a wider-reaching collection of sounds. 15@5 kicks off with "DEAD SKIN", the harrowing closer to Futo's 2015 full-length "I Wish I Had Been Born as the Rain that Forms Rivers that Carve Out Canyons" followed by "RANT BRITTLE", a brand new single from Group Stretching a.k.a. Matt Anderegg (Mothers, New Wives) - leaning harder on the "noise" side of things... Basically, we wanted to avoid "the singles" in favor of crafting a more creatively representative batch of songs culled from the past couple of years of Marching Banana.

Everyone has really snapped into full-form this past year and we have our sights set on the distant horizon as everyone prepares for a prolific 2016. New full-lengths from Meth Wax, Futo & Civils are set for spring with many more coming throughout the year that I probably shouldn't reveal yet. TRUST & BELIEVE.
