Popular to be beloved, popular music made for everyday listening here for you now on our 10th birthday! Watching the world burn, we find resonance in the active, purposeful manifestation of ideas and pleasure via art and music! Far from being rendered trivial, craft & ideation have come to define a lot of the last year spent mutually alone. Entire structural facets of our modern society, if (maybe) not on the verge of collapse, certainly seem to be undergoing a sort of proverbial brushfire - destruction to facilitate new opportunity. That being said, there are cops raiding the homes of our friends; a new era of unforetold unemployment; stalemate decimation of our local working communities & job networks. The live entertainment industry- long the strawman that streaming entities and devolving megacorp labels have co-opted in order to prop up their ailing, parasitic models- was among the first to shutter and will be among the last to recover. Modes that were designed to fail, catapulting labor value and equity ever-upward, did their part.

Fortunately, art never had a thing to do with any of this. And making music for people - with good intentions - is an act that communicates the honest value of positive humanity. There remains something delightful about this simple give-and-take of mutual energy: from voice to ear, from subwoofer to chest, from idea to reality. It may not "mean" more now but it FEELS more important than ever to truly lean on each other and try to imagine new possibilities. This loose conglomerate of artists was formally "founded" with our inaugural release on January 29th, 2011 - MBR 10 years and counting! Stay safe everyone, we will try to keep you entertained this year!!!

A LOOSING TO PORTEND ::

[[....FEATURING cuts from the following Marching Banana releases, forthcoming on cassette from our bigcartel site OR to download + stream for free]] :: :: ::

MBR-078: FUTO "Outstanding In His Field" :: New conceptual EP about baseball and eternity from Ga.'s finest Patrick Brick! 2 songs contained here!

MBR-079: CIVILS "And the Noise and the Haste Smooths" :: Double-album, 21 cuts of powerpop & hard-disco from Drew Kirby (Mothers, New Wives), the purported "final" Civils album!

MBR-080: SPINACH "Spinach Tea" :: New avant-pop trio featuring the dynamic songwriting and Fripp-esque guitarwork of Sam Wilson (Fuiste, Art Contest, Klark.sound)

MBR-081: FOUR EYES "I Hope This Finds You Well" :: More hauntology from Erin Lovett; loads of odes to personhood and vulnerability, communicating the tough-to-access parts of the psyche and id via folk with a writerly touch that, thru her catalog, remains genuinely personable & inviting. A master of space with not a word wasted!

MBR-082: JACK BLAUVELT "Victory Shower" :: Debut instrumental album from JB (Neighbor Lady) mixing amber-hued Gershwin-y piano figures backed by sample-based minimalist loops, splitting the difference between J Dilla and Steve Reich.

MBR-083: DELOREAN GRAY "A Darker Shade of..." :: More new cuts from Jake Flowers, a followup to last year's "A Lighter Shade of..." collaborative EP. Jake's been dipping into deep house and it's percolating up thru his chrome-sleek sophistipop.
