RECAP :: volume #1 began on/around the 4th of July 2013, with Matt Anderegg, Taber Lathrop and Drew Kirby spearheading an "album-in-a-night" personal challenge that quickly roped in roommate Zach Gastley and, by proximity, piqued the interest of close friends/collaborators whom the door was opened to the next time around (Vol. 2 - marchingbanana.bandcamp.com/album/035-bananagrams-vol-2 ). That was the effort where everyone was collectively available & on-hand for contribution and dialogue; most was "live-tracked" in one main room, on the same digital 8-track that was used the first time around.

RECAP (continued) :: By our own admittance, that communal spirit wasn't particularly alive for volume #3. Although yes, these were still off-the-cuff collaborative recordings free of bandname/uniform genre, they were culled together over a much longer time period (jan 2014 blizzards-summer 2015) and most were neither conceived nor executed with more than a couple people on hand at a time.

BUT, We Done It this time. Continuing in the original spirit of the bananagrams projects we have further expanded the scope and volume (heh) of this album to include over 20 different artists from the Athens & Atlanta area. Everything was recorded to 1/4 inch 8-track tape for the first time, requiring a communal presence (since digital editing wasn't an option) as well as mandating a level of decisiveness in performance (even while improvising.)
