HI I'M ALIVE is the debut album from NEW WIVES a noise pop trio from Athens, Georgia comprised of songwriting team Drew Kirby & Matt Anderegg & Zach Gastley.

This album was conceived at a nascent period in the band's development, when they were first locking the naive pop of their debut White EP & the raucous commitment of the followup Black EP into one singular rhythm and sound, a blend self-described at the time as "doom pop".

These songs were written during the summer of 2014 and recorded the following spring. A dedicated touring schedule throughout 2015 kept Matt & Drew on the road with primary project Mothers for much of the next two years, delaying the final mastering process until the following summer of 2016 when HI I'M ALIVE was mastered by Jason NeSmith (of Athens greats Casper & The Cookies and Supercluster) at Chase Park Transduction.

This is a tightly-packed 31 minutes and nine tracks of carefully arranged loud rock sounds. The band was in many cases fixated on the transcendent possibilities of limiting the sound to, at times, very basic elements - one or two chords that implied more that they could sometimes convey.

In a way, HI I'M ALIVE serves as the death knoll to NEW WIVES as as active live band - the group allegedly promises "zero unnatural distortion" on their next studio album. Til then & til we die . . . . . .
