about

"Full Frontal" is the new EP from Meth Wax, a.k.a 21-year old home recordist and UGA student Daniel Tanghal. At 10 songs, it’s about as much material as you could hope to cram onto a 20-minute cassette and still call it an EP.

It’s also fully in line with the vision of last year's 2014 debut full length "Horse Placenta" sonically - if you enjoyed that release Full Frontal will feel familiar, but more refined. The airtight hook on opening scuzzpunk number “Invocation” would’ve fit wonderfully on an Epitaph Records release circa 1990, and the overall attitude is more confident and realized than ever. The jittering drum machines and pained acoustic numbers are still there too - the lead single “Gravity Bong” might be the most streamlined piece of songwriting Tanghal has committed to tape yet, followed immediately by “Eyes” which effortlessly melts into a beautiful, warped multilayered guitar outro. It’s brash, fun, emotive, loud, sweet, twisted and ultimately, honest music.

There’s a pretty wide variety of styles that fall under the Meth Wax canon, and seeing how Tanghal effortlessly, unassumingly jumps between them is a big part of the joy of hearing new Meth Wax music. And considering he’s got maybe hundreds of songs online, and an official band together now for shows and future recordings, it’s also reassuring knowing there will always be more to dig through and more on the way.

Exploring themes of witchcraft and orgies & featuring short appearances by kyle and Eric Andre, "Full Frontal" was released on 4/20 in the year 2015 via Marching Banana Records. Available digitally & on cassette (via Teen Sleuth.)
