about

Available on a limited run of handmade cassettes, this release compiles two concept EP's from Patrick Brick via his home-recording project FUTO released in the past year.

The original "Get Well Soon Patrick" EP contains early recordings of staple Futo songs, here seen in their raw early (and only recorded) forms and containing a great homemade charm. Standouts like "Move To Arizona" and "Please Don't" place Patrick's impeccable songwriting sensibilities against some of his best lo-fi bedroom pop maximalism.

The newer of the two Futo releases "Get Well Soon Patrick Pt. 2" deals similarly with themes of loss, albeit this time through very sparse and stark acoustic tracks recorded entirely on a handheld tape recorder, most often on a frontporch surrounded by a humming southern-summer chorus of crickets and cicadas. Standouts like "I Think He Missed It (Wanderlust)" and "Wake The Dead (Distorted Phone Calls)" are haunting in their honesty and piercing in their lyrical directness.

"I miss everyone all of the time
and I miss those who are still in my life
and I don't think I'll ever stop
'cause I just don't know what I've got."
